I wanta play!

Nester's having a party! She's been doing a series about 10 Minutes to Rooms You Love and for a finale she's linked to a lot of make-overs. Her dictates? Turn on lamps, remove clutter, use what you have. I chose the kitchen this morning, mainly because it  needed picking up--and that's about all I did. Sorry, no magic here. :)

Here's the first before, with packaging from something I got in yesterday's mail cluttering the bar.
Another before--I hadn't put away pots from last night.

Yet another before pic: I'd just gotten home with groceries.

And still another view of the mess. And now the afters:
All I did was put away the pots,
Pick up the mess,
Put away the groceries,
And cut some greenery from the yard.  Tidy makes a world of difference! So would flowers have done, but I only had a bit of lavendar, some red bush tips and African iris leaves.

Check out Nester's blog for some cool makeovers.

  7. Thanks for the tip on the bedskirt. I've made many a bedskirt and wrestling all that fabric is a chore. I think I'll try your tip.

  9. Wow! I feel guilty that all I did was straighten up my kitchen; there are so many truly creative makeovers linked to the Nester. But thanks, y'all.

Amber B., the countertops are Lapidus from Brazil. We have stained concrete floors and wanted something that picked up the reddish brown color.

Dusti, the waistband method is how bedskirts are done at custom decorator shops, except they actually stitch the skirts to the box springs. Me, I don't want to make that kind of commitment!

And JenJen, if you're talking about the wooden bowl, I got that at Tuesday Morning a lifetime or two ago. Great bargain.

    Thanks again.

  13. Omigosh! The Nester was here. My head's spinnin'. Dollink, my accomplishments, such as they are, pale in comparison to anything you do. I'm honored you popped your head in, thrilled you chose to comment.

  14. I agree...de-cluttering can make all the difference.
I try very hard to make sure we don't become clutter bugs.
    Your kitchen looks so inviting.
